Green shade 5 goggle for cutting and brazing

Cutting steel with an oxygen torch puts a bright flame and a lot of infrared right at eye level. The Odyssey II goggle answers that with a shade 5 green polycarbonate lens that filters infrared and ultraviolet, hard coated to help it resist scratches. Its soft, flexible body shapes itself to your face for a close seal, and it is marked to ANSI Z87+.

Shade 5 belongs to torch work and glare: oxygen cutting, gas welding and brazing. Do not use it for electric arc welding. Indirect vents at the top and bottom let air move through to help against fogging, while keeping dust and debris from coming straight in. The goggle fits over most prescription glasses, and you adjust the flame resistant cloth headband to sit snug around your head.

Before you start

IR tinted windows, visors and lenses are for torch work: brazing, gas welding and oxygen cutting. They are not a filter for an electric arc, where the OSHA table starts at Shade 7.
