Pick the lens for the light, the frame for your face

Safety glasses stop the chips, dust and flying particles that cause most eye injuries at work. NIOSH counts about 2,000 U.S. workers hurting an eye on the job every day, most of them from small particles striking or scraping the eye.

The lens tint follows the light you work in. Clear lenses are for indoor work and low light, smoke for bright sun, indoor/outdoor for people who walk in and out of a building all shift. Anti-fog coated lenses help when you move between cold and warm air or work hard enough to sweat. The bifocal readers put a magnifying segment at the bottom of the lens for close work, and over-the-glass frames go on over your own prescription glasses.

NIOSH explains the marking you look for: Z87 for normal safety wear, Z87+ for high impact. Where our data for a Sellstrom part names its standard, the product page shows it as a chip.

Questions

About Sellstrom safety glasses

Which Sellstrom lens tint suits your work?

Clear for indoor work and low light, smoke for bright sun, indoor/outdoor for walking in and out of a building through the shift. Anti-fog coated lenses help when you move between cold and warm air.

Can you wear Sellstrom safety glasses over your prescription glasses?

Our over-the-glass safety glasses are made to go over your own frames. OSHA asks for eye protection that has the prescription built in or fits over prescription glasses without disturbing either pair.

When do you need Sellstrom bifocal safety glasses?

Close work. A magnifying segment at the bottom of the safety lens lets you read a gauge or a label without swapping glasses. Ours come in +1.5, +2.0 and +2.5, plus the XM340RX.
