Shade 6 and 8 flip visors for torch work

Between cuts you want to see the work clearly, and while the flame is lit you want the glare gone. This polycarbonate visor hinges on the front of our DP4 face shields, so you flip it down over the clear window for brazing and oxygen cutting, then lift it to mark the next line. It measures 9.25 by 4.375 inches and is 0.070 inch thick.

Choose Shade 6 IR or Shade 6 Cobalt Blue for brazing and lighter cutting, and Shade 8 IR for heavier oxy-acetylene cutting where the work glows brighter. These are torch shades, not arc filters, so keep your welding helmet for stick, MIG and TIG. Fitted to the shield, the visor is marked to ANSI Z87+ and CSA Z94.3, and you still wear safety glasses under it.

Before you start

IR tinted windows, visors and lenses are for torch work: brazing, gas welding and oxygen cutting. They are not a filter for an electric arc, where the OSHA table starts at Shade 7.
