Shade 3 IR window for torch work on DP4

Brazing a fitting or cutting plate with an oxygen torch throws glare and heat at your face, and a clear window does nothing about the glare. This DP4 window is shade 3 IR polycarbonate with an anti-fog coating that helps against clouding, curved to follow the shape of your face. It measures 12.125 by 9 inches and 0.060 inch thick. Fitted to our DP4 face shields, the assembly is marked to ANSI Z87+ and CSA Z94.3.

Shade 3 is a torch and glare shade. It suits gas welding, brazing and oxygen cutting, and you should never use it for electric arc welding. Keep your safety glasses or goggles on underneath, since the shield guards your face while the glasses still guard your eyes. When this window gets scratched, swap it on the DP4 crown and keep the headgear you have already broken in.

Before you start

IR tinted windows, visors and lenses are for torch work: brazing, gas welding and oxygen cutting. They are not a filter for an electric arc, where the OSHA table starts at Shade 7.
