Lift front hood that stays down while you chip

Chipping slag between passes goes faster when you do not have to raise the whole hood. Our 293 carries a spring loaded lift front, 2 by 4 1/4 inches, that locks positively in either position, so the filter swings up and a clear cover plate stays in front of your eyes for the hammer work. An extended crown covers more of your head on overhead joints, and a rigid neck bib takes spatter and IR heat that would otherwise land on your throat.

Plates go in through our Sel-Snap retention system. When a cover plate pits, you pop it out and seat a new one without tools. Set the ratchet headgear once for your head size and it holds that setting shift after shift. The helmet is marked to ANSI Z87.1 and CSA Z94.3.

Before you start

Pick the shade from your process and current with the OSHA table, start darker and go lighter until you see the weld zone, and replace cover plates once spatter clouds the view.
