Shade 10 hand shield for short looks
Sometimes you only need a few seconds behind a filter: checking a tack, watching a helper strike an arc, judging a bead from the side. This hand held shield is made for that short viewing, with a Shade 10 IR and UV filter plate set in a body of light, heat resistant HDPE. The handle opening is wide enough for a gloved hand of any size.
Both lower caps come off, so you can set the shield up for your right hand or your left. It takes a standard 2 by 4.25 inch plate, and it comes with the Shade 10 filter and a cover plate in front of it. Swap the cover plate when spatter pits it. For your own welding, wear a helmet. We mark the shield to ANSI Z87.1 and CSA Z94.3.

Pick the shade from your process and current with the OSHA table, start darker and go lighter until you see the weld zone, and replace cover plates once spatter clouds the view.
