Arc flash rated shield and white hard hat kit

Opening a live panel or racking a breaker is a different hazard from grinding, and a plain clear shield is not built for it. The 312 kit pairs a white hard hat on 6 point ratchet suspension with an arc flash rated face shield on a universal slotted adapter. The molded polycarbonate window is ATPV rated at 9.9 cal/cm2, wraps around your face, and sits between a reinforced crown and a chin guard that cover your head and neck.

The window has a light green tint that passes 55% of visible light, so you can still tell wire colors apart on a terminal strip. Match the rating to the incident energy your hazard assessment lists for the equipment, and wear your arc rated clothing and safety glasses with it. The kit is marked to ANSI Z87.1 and NFPA 70E.

Before you start

A face shield goes over safety glasses or goggles, never instead of them. OSHA's guide says a shield alone does not stop an impact, and a pitted or scratched window is the cue to replace it.
