Single crown 390 shield on headgear or hard hat

An angle grinder throws chips at your whole face, not only at your eyes. The 390 Series shield puts a curved 8 by 12 inch window in front of all of it, held by an extra large blue single crown that leaves room for air to move. We make it in the USA, it is marked to ANSI Z87+ and CSA Z94.3, and every part is sold separately, so a scratched window does not mean a new shield.

Choose the mount first. Ratcheting suspension with a twist knob sets height and fit on a bare head, pin-lock suspension is the simpler band, and the universal adaptor slides into most slotted hard hats. Then choose the window: clear uncoated, clear with Sta-Clear anti-fog coating, or shade 5 IR for brazing and torch cutting, never for arc welding. Wear your safety glasses under any of them.

  • Extra large crown

The high impact blue crown sits wide on your head and leaves space for air to circulate.
  • Twist knob ratchet

On the ratcheting version a twist knob adjusts height and fit for grinding, brazing and cutting.
  • Parts sold separately

Windows and headgear are replaced on their own, so you do not buy a whole shield again.

Before you start

IR tinted windows, visors and lenses are for torch work: brazing, gas welding and oxygen cutting. They are not a filter for an electric arc, where the OSHA table starts at Shade 7.
