Arc rated shield with a crown and chin guard

Switching, racking breakers and testing live gear put your face, neck and head in the line of a possible flash. This shield pairs a large, high impact polycarbonate crown with a chin guard, so cover runs from your forehead down under the jaw. Its molded polycarbonate window is rated 9.9 cal/cm2, and the light green tint lets about 55% of light through so wire colors still read true.

Choose the mount that matches your head protection. The Ratchet Headgear version is for work without a hard hat, with a knob that locks the band at your size. The Universal Hard Hat Adaptor version clips into the slots of most slotted hard hats. We leave the window uncoated. Confirm the rating against your hazard assessment, and wear safety glasses under the shield.

Before you start

A face shield goes over safety glasses or goggles, never instead of them. OSHA's guide says a shield alone does not stop an impact, and a pitted or scratched window is the cue to replace it.
