Clear CR-39 plate that takes the spatter first

Every bead throws spatter at the front of your helmet. A cover plate is the inexpensive piece that collects the pits, so your filter lens stays clean behind it. We make this one from CR-39, a heat resistant material that resists scratches, heat and shop chemicals. It is clear, so it adds no shade of its own, and it is marked to ANSI Z87.1.

Choose the size by the lens you are covering. The 2 by 4-1/4 inch plate (S19002) suits helmets built around that small rectangular filter, and the Standard plate (S19004) measures 4.5 by 5.25 inches for a larger window. Measure your filter before you order. Once the plate is pitted enough that you start squinting through it, swap in a fresh one and your view of the puddle comes back.

Before you start

Pick the shade from your process and current with the OSHA table, start darker and go lighter until you see the weld zone, and replace cover plates once spatter clouds the view.
