Gold coated shade 11 plate for hot arc work

Long runs at high heat bake your face as much as they strain your eyes. This shade 11 plate is passive polycarbonate with a gold coating on the front that reflects extra heat and light away from the helmet. Behind that coating the plate filters UV and IR and stands between you and heat, sparks and spatter. Polycarbonate keeps it tough against impact and clear to look through.

It measures 4-1/2 by 5-1/4 inches, so check that your helmet takes that size before you order. Shade 11 is a dark arc welding shade, so you would pick it for intense welding, not for torch cutting or brazing. Slide a clear cover plate of the same size in front of it, and the cover takes the spatter while your gold plate stays unmarked.

Before you start

Pick the shade from your process and current with the OSHA table, start darker and go lighter until you see the weld zone, and replace cover plates once spatter clouds the view.
