A whole shield, ready to wear over your glasses

Every shield on this page arrives as a set: crown, window and the way it holds on your head, either ratchet headgear with a knob at the back or an adapter that clips into the slots of a hard hat. Pick the series by the job. The DP4 is the light everyday shield, the 380 and the Advantage add an oversized crown and a chin guard, the 390 comes with pin-lock or ratchet suspension, and the 312 and the dual crown arc flash shield are made for electrical work with their own rated windows.

Wear any of them over safety glasses or goggles. OSHA's guide to protective equipment says a face shield alone will not stop an impact, and the shield is there to take the sparks, the chips and the splash before they reach the glasses underneath. When the window wears out, the replacement windows fit the crown you already own.

What the safety sources say

OSHA Publication 3151: Personal Protective Equipment. Describes safety spectacles, goggles, welding shields and face shields, and says face shields protect against splashes and sprays but not adequately against impact, so worn with goggles or safety spectacles they give added protection. It also says hearing protector makers must print the NRR on the packaging and that glasses, facial hair or long hair can reduce the protective value of earmuffs. Read October 2, 2026.
OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.133: Eye and face protection. Employers must ensure appropriate eye or face protection against flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, chemical gases or vapors and injurious light radiation, with side protection against flying objects, and filter lenses must carry a shade number suited to the work. Devices must meet ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2010, Z87.1-2003 or Z87.1-1989 (R-1998), and the table sets minimum shades such as 10 for gas metal arc welding at 60 to 160 A and 14 for carbon arc welding.
